Block Printing – Oldest and Simplest

The simplest and oldest technique for printing fabrics involves the use of handmade, carved wooden blocks. The earliest surviving fragments date back to the Chinese Han Dynasty (before AD 220). Even today, this technique remains one of the most commonly used printing methods in East Asian countries.

Although it is a straightforward process, it requires skill, patience, and an artistic eye to combine colors effectively, resulting in vibrant, unique, and timeless designs. While the production process may be slow, it is highly valued for its exclusivity.
